About Me
I am Rebecca-Jayne, the artist and founder of RJ Collective, a contemporary fine-art studio based in Oxfordshire. My work explores the balance between control and freedom – between what’s planned and what unfolds naturally. Each piece begins as a concept, shaped by emotion or a spark of curiosity, but ultimately evolves through instinct, movement and flow.
I create with the intention of capturing moments – not perfection – allowing paint, texture and material to speak in their own language.
Inspiration & Process
Inspiration comes from many places – from conversations with clients, unexpected colour combinations, life experiences, memory and emotion. While nature often influences my palettes and textures, my work isn’t bound to it. Every piece tells its own story, led by energy of the materials themselves.
I spend time planning my compositions – testing flow, experimenting with colour harmonies – but once the pour begins, I let go. The paints move, react and merge, and that’s where the true story forms.
Collaboration & Commissions
Some of my most meaningful work has come from collaboration. I love working with collectors to create pieces that reflect their stories, spaces, and personalities. Together, we explore tone, energy, and feeling – shaping custom works that are deeply personal yet recognisably part of the RJ Collective style. Whether its an emotional commission, a corporate installation, or a bespoke colour study, I approach each project as a partnership built on trust and creative intuition.
Philosophy & Purpose
For me, art is a form of communication – a quiet dialogue between artist, material, and viewer. My goal isn’t to dictate what someone sees, but to create space for reflection and feeling. Through RJ Collective, I share that belief in beauty can be both raw and refined, chaotic and calm. Each piece carries part of that journey, the planning, the experimentation, the acceptance of imperfection, and the joy of discovery.
Thank you for visiting my world of colour and movement. I hope my work brings you the same sense of presence and connection that I find in creating it.
