A Study in Warmth and Balance
There is something about autumn that always feels like a quiet exhale. The world softens – light turns to golden, the air smells faintly of woodsmoke, and colours shift from vibrant to grounded. It’s a season that speaks in whispers rather than shouts, and that mood became the heartbeat of the Autumn Ember Palette.
I didn’t want to chase the bright reds of falling leaves but rather the embers left behind – that subtle warmth that lingers when everything else cools. The palette grew from a need for balance: fiery coppers and russet tones anchored by soft creams, muted blushes and hints of deep forest green and teal. Together, they capture that fragile space between stillness and movement, calm and renewal.
As I began working with it, the palette seemed to take on a rhythm of its own. Each pour carried the same quiet energy – a steady burn beneath the surface. The metallics shimmered like fading sunlight, while the earther tones grounded everything in calm. It became a study in contrasts: the passion of colour meeting the serenity of flow.
Pieces like Autumn’s Breath and Autumn’s Quiet Whisper emerged from this palette, each echoing its emotional language – warmth. transformation, and surrender. Creating them felt like painting the feeling of a deep inhale before the long nights arrive – a reminder that even as things fade, beauty remains in the glow that lingers.
The Autumn Ember palette will always hold a special place in my journey – a turning point between exploration and belonging and the moment my work began to truly breathe within the seasons.
You can see examples of the palette in use in the Autumn’s Breath and Autumn’s Quiet Whisper listings.
