A Study in Introspection & Reflection
Some palettes whisper rather than shout. Winter Blues was born from longing for stillness – the kind found only in winter’s soft light and the hush that follows the snowfall. I wanted to create something that felt like a frozen lake at dawn – unmoving yet alive beneath the surface, holding quiet possibilities in its depth.
The colours came gently, layers of blue/grey, pale silver and soft white. Hints of pearl shimmer like ice catching the morning sun, while the muted tones carry that meditative weight of reflection – not sadness, but still, thoughtful calm. Its the palette of introspection, where water meets air and the sound disappears into the silence.
There is a quiet kind of magic in moments like these – when the world pauses long enough to let thoughts settle, when creativity doesn’t rush. It simply waits. Frozen Reverie is my interpretation of that space.
It speaks to reflection and renewal, to finding beauty in still waters and peace in restraint. For me, it became less about the act of painting and more about listening – allowing colour to move slowly, as if remembering how to breath.
So step into my vision – wrapped in warm clothes and a blanket, a cup of something comforting in your hands, sat on a wooden jetty outside the log cabin. The birds are calling softly across the frozen lake, and the winter sun glows low on the horizon. The world is quiet, just for a moment. You breath. Closing your eyes, you reflect. You let the stillness speak.
You can see examples of the palette in use in the Frozen Reverie listing.
